 Example 1:

Claim:    Fire & Physical Damages                            
Claim Amount:  $2 Million                         
Telecommunications switching equipment:

The  insured claimed that the equipment was no longer manufactured,  therefore it was not repairable and would need to be replaced with  upgraded telecommunications switches.

The  insured claimed that the equipment was no longer manufactured,  therefore it was not repairable and would need to be replaced with  upgraded telecommunications switches.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $900,000.00

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages.  Also determined that the  equipment could be replaced with new equipment of like kind and quality  for a total cost of $900,000.
Used and/or refurbished were not options with the coverage for this file. 

JTC Consulting also provided subrogation and expert witness services for this loss. 

Example 2:

Claim:    Hail Damages                            
Claim Amount:  $14,000.00                         
(5) Air conditioning condensing units:

The insured claimed that the condensing units were not repairable and would all need to be replaced with new units.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $500.00

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages.  Also determined that the cooling  fins on the units could be combed out returning the insured to pre-loss  condition for an estimated cost of $375.00 to $500.00.

Example 3:

Claim:    Faulty Electrical Outlet                            
Claim Amount:  $10,000.00                         
SeeSnake, sewer pipe camera snake:

The  insured claimed that the unit was damaged when it was plugged into a  bad electrical outlet.  Their vendor informed them the unit could not be  repaired and and provided a new replacement estimate of $10,000.00.

This was the third similar replacement loss for this unit that the insured had filed. 
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $2,600.00

Determined  the damage was due to the unit being placed into an electrically  energized pipe, not a bad electrical outlet.  Also determined that the  unit could be repaired by a different factory authorized service  center returning the insured to pre-loss condition for an estimated cost  of $2,600.00.

Example 4:

Claim:   Shorted out after filling unit with freon                           
Claim Amount:  $4,844.00                         
Residential air conditioning condensing unit:

The insured claimed that the condensing unit was not repairable and would all need to be replaced with a new unit.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $1,781.00

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages.  Also determined that the  compressor inside of the condensing unit could be replaced for an  estimated cost of $1,781.00.

Example 5:

Claim:    Water Damage                            
Claim Amount:  $25,000.00                         
Security Equipment in Nursing Home:

The  insured claimed that the security, alarm and facility access  equipment was damaged by water when a pipe burst over the equipment.   Their vendor informed them the equipment could  be repaired for an  estimated cost of $25,000.00.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $2,500.00 &/Or $3,800.00

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages.  Also determined that the  equipment could be repaired with restored replacement  components, returning the insured to pre-loss condition for an estimated  cost of $2,500.00 or by replacing the damaged components with new  components for $3,800.00.

Claim:    Fire / Soot                            
Claim Amount:  $23,000.00                         
Faulty Residential Fire Logs:

The  insured claimed that the residence was contaminated by smoke and soot  when their electronically starting gas fire logs failed to function  properly.  Damages to the home were estimated at $2

Determined  the damage was due to the fire logs having been operated for an  extended period with the fireplace flew in the closed position.

Example 7:

Claim:    Theft                            
Claim Amount:  $107,000.00                         
Cellular telephones stolen from service center:

The  insured claimed that their facility had been burglarized and that the  theft totalled $107,000.00 worth of cellular telephones.

This was the second similar theft loss that the insured had filed for two different stores. 
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $17,000.00

Verified  the theft and determined that the missing phones could be replaced with  refurbished telephones of like kind and quality, returning the insured  to pre-loss condition for an estimated cost of $17,000.00.

Claim:    Lightning                            
Claim Amount:  $18,000.00                         
Elevator:

The  insured's vendor informed them that the replacement parts needed to  repair the elevator were no longer available.  An estimate was then  provided to upgrade the entire unit for a total cost of $18,000.00.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $3,300.00

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages.   Located replacement parts and  vendor to repair the existing elevator, returning the unit to pre-loss  condition for an estimated cost of $3,300.00.   Example 9:

Claim:    Lightning                           
Claim Amount:  $398,515.00                         
911 Emergency Response Equipment:

After  the loss, the insured was informed by their vendor that the  equipment involved in the loss had been damaged by lightning and that  it was obsolete and could not be repaired.  The vendor also provided an  estimate for new replacement equipment totaling $398,515.00.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $96,994.00

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages.  Located replacement parts and  vendors to repair the existing equipment to return the insured to  pre-loss condition for an estimated cost of $96,994.00 including parts  and labor.

Example 10:

Claim:    Power Surge                            
Claim Amount:  $26,000.00                         
Telephone System:

The  insured's vendor informed them that the replacement parts needed to  repair the telephone system were no longer available.  An estimate was  then provided to upgrade the entire system for a total cost of  $26,000.00.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $339.00

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages.   Located replacement parts and  vendor to repair the existing system, returning the unit to pre-loss  condition for an estimated cost of $339.00 including parts, software and  labor.

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages.   Determined that the unit was  damaged beyond repair.  Located a used/refurbished replacement unit of  like kind and quality in the same model and configuration as the  insured's original unit for a total cost of $9,800.00.

Claim:    Lightning                            
Claim Amount:  $31,000.00                         
Misc. electronic equipment in a major hotel:

Lightning  struck the insured's hotel causing damages to TV's, air conditioners,  wireless internet, security system, computers, telephone system, lobby  music and facility access doors.  The insured was provided with  repair/replacement estimates totaling $31,000.00 from their vendors and  service providers to return them to pre-loss condition.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $10,488.00

Verified  lightning as the cause and determined the extent of the damages.    Managed the loss to minimize any business interruption and located  replacement parts and vendors to repair/replace the equipment involved  in the loss for an estimated cost of $10,488.00.

Example 13:

Claim:    Water                           
Claim Amount:  $120,436.00                         
Misc. electronic equipment in a major University:

Water  pipes broke causing damages to telecommunications equipment for the  local area network of a major university.  The insured was provided with  repair/replacement estimates totaling $120,436.00 from their vendors  and service providers to return them to pre-loss condition.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $53,489.00

Verified  the extent of the damages and located replacement parts and vendors to  repair/replace the equipment involved in the loss for an estimated cost  of $53,489.00.

Example 14:

Claim:    Lightning                           
Claim Amount:  $65,784.97                        
Misc. electronic equipment in bowling alley:

Lightning  causing damages to monitors, computers, registers, network equipment,  air conditioners and pin setting equipment.  The insured was provided  with repair/replacement estimates totaling $65,784.97 from their vendors  and service providers to return them to pre-loss condition.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $35,865.00

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages and located replacement parts and  vendors to repair/replace the equipment involved in the loss for an  estimated cost of $35,865.00.

Example 15:

Claim:    Power Surge                           
Claim Amount:  $24,018.00                        
(EDM) Electrical Discharge Machine:

A  power surge damaged the insured's EDM machine, which is used for  cutting metal in a machine shop.  The insured reported that the unit  could not be repaired and provided an estimate totaling $24,018.00 to  replace the damaged equipment with a new unit.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $5,000.00 & $13,500.00

Verified  the cause and determined the extent of the damages were beyond repair.   Located a used replacement system of like kind and quality for  $5,000.00 and a new replacement system of like kind and quality for  $13,500.00.

Example 16:

Claim:    Fire                          
Claim Amount:  $39,000.00                        
Fire damage to heavy equipment:

Insured  reported that a bobcat, case skidster and a leeboy paver were all  damaged when the trailer they were being transported on caught on fire.   The insured provided replacement estimates totaling $39,000.00 for the  three units involved in the loss.
 

JTC findings:
Recommendation: $16,235.00

Verified  the cause and extent of the damages and located a vendor who provided  an estimate to refurbish the equipment involved in the loss, returning  it to pre-loss condition for a total cost of $16,235.00. Type your  paragraph here.
